Emilio Mola y Vidal, 1st Duke of Mola, Grandee of Spain (June 9, 1887 – June 3, 1937) was a Spanish Nationalist commander during the Spanish Civil War. He originated the term "Fifth Column" in a 1936 radio address. The description of traitors became popular in Spain and was then picked up by Ernest Hemingway who used it as a title for his only play.
