In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn. There are children in India who don't have access to the necessary resources that can contribute to their education significantly. Their enthusiasm and eagerness is contagious and their smiles of joy is reward enough for the volunteers who go to teach them. Added benefits are the opportunities to explore a beautiful mountainous region at one of the highest points in India, and learn about the unique culture of an ancient civilization.

The girl child in India is almost always an afterthought. Education? Maybe, probably till the primary level. After that she is required to help with the housework, or she is married off at a young age. These girls are being denied the opportunity to pursue their dreams and ensure a secure future for themselves and their daughters to come. This can be prevented. You could be the one that sees them across from living the life of their dreams merely in their minds to actually living them. Women in rural India work in the houses and in the fields.They deny themselves a full meal so that other members of the family may eat.As small girls they would have dropped out of school early.For all that they do, this is what they get in return: nothing.After all, it is considered a woman's lot in life to do the things she has been doing.Don't they deserve the chance to live a better life? You could be the one that makes this difference in the life of a woman.

The Western Ghats ecoregion is the most species-rich in the Indian peninsula. At least 325 of globally threatened species are found in the Western Ghats. However, it is estimated that two-thirds of the original forests have been cleared. Soon, this region with its plentiful variety of flora and fauna will be a part of our distant memories. Or does it have to be so? You could be a part of the project that works for the restoration of the "Great Escarpment of India."
