Zoo Wild is a research project that covers the study of biomes, animals, and zoo exhibit design. Students are given a biome to research. They choose an animal from that biome to investigate further. They are to become an "expert" on their chosen animal. With that knowledge, they will design a zoo exhibit that will fit the animal and its needs. I have done this unit with my class for many years, and it is always the most anticipated unit of the year. After all research is complete and the exhibits are constructed, we put it all together in our own little zoo. We invite students from other grades to visit our zoo. We have always followed this project with an actual visit to the Oregon Zoo. The kids love to see how their exhibits compare with the real ones. I hope you enjoy this project. I don't have pictures of past exhibits, but will post some as soon as I can.
