Bottom of the Incline - Forest of Nisene Marks

Another of the well-built bridges in the Forest of Nisene Marks. About a half mile up the creek from here is the epicenter of the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake which did billions of dollars worth of damage in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is also the "Bottom of the Incline," as it is called because of the logging rig that used to be in place here. The railway went nearly straight up the mountainside and they lowered ton after ton of felled old-growth redwood trees.
