Alasdair Beaton started his piping career at the age of 14 receiving tuition first from Willie Beverage formerly of the Royal Scots and British Caledonian Airways Pipe Band and then from Jim Elmslie who was part of the famous Muirhead & Sons Pipe Band winning the World Championships five years in a row from 1965 - 1969. At the time they held the record for the most championships in a row until Strathclyde Police won six in a row from 1981 – 1986.

One of England's finest pipers, Colin plays a wide repertoire of tunes including his own compositions, and is available for special occasions.    Colin is a previous winner of the solo open competitions at both Rothbury Music Festival and Morpeth Gathering. He is also a piper in one of Englands top Pipe Bands, the 101st Northumbrian Regiment Royal Artillery (Volunteers).
