Highly modified Mustang named "Roto finish" #5 Reno Racer
Mr. Awesome highly modified Soviet Yak-11 WWII fighter, had received some heavy duty modifications since it’s last outing that were obviously intended to cure the stability issue. Now outfitted with the tail section from a Lockheed T-33, the aircraft was ready to perform up to her potential.
Messerschmitt Me-209 v1. Flown by Flugkapitan Fritz Wendel, the Me-209 was the world's fastest piston-engined aircraft, and holder of the absolute speed record until 1969. On April 26, 1939, the Me-209 achieved an absolute speed of 469.22 mph using a Daimler-Benz liquid-cooled ARJ 12-cylinder engine capable of producing 2,300 hp for short bursts. Some pieces of the Me-209 v1 still exist in the Polish Air Museum at Krakow.
