Kirkwood built by Mr Foster Kirksey and nearly completed in 1860. The construction of this house was halted at the beginning of the (Civil) War and not completed until the Swayzy family purchased it 100 years later. Purchased from the unbroken ownership of the Kirksey family, it was still replete with original fixtures, family documents, and furnishings. The swayze's received the prestigious Honor Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1982. Eutaw, AL.
