Kansas City Athletics Pictures (1955-1967)

Charles Finley, who owned the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics from 1961-80, was known for diong things his own way. Take for example his determination to do away with the A's elephant mascot after the club moved from Philadelphia, and replace it with a Missouri mule named Charlie O. Here, on the mule's debut night at old Municipal Stadium, he had a handler walk alongside the animal in case it became skittish.
