Ornate Byzantine Spangenhelm from a grave in Gammertingen Germany, 6th century, six iron plates, which are held together by six clips of copper and an iron, covered with sheet copper circlet. All parts are richly decorated and were originally gilded, a Byzantine officers helmet of the type manufactured in Balkan and Italian workshops for the needs of the Eastern Roman army.
