'Into the Woods,' 2015: For the Witch's costume worn by Meryl Streep, designer Colleen Atwood actually stitched tiny pieces of leather on to chiffon to give her wardrobe a cracked-bark texture. "When you work with an actress like Meryl, you collaborate on what she is actually going to be doing in the costume," Atwood explains. "The movement is part of her character, and early on she knew that as the Witch she was going to be crouched down and have a stance that was almost like a spider."

One of the toughest characters Atwood had to dress may have been the Queen of Hearts (Helena Bonham Carter).
