NGC 7714 has been stretched & distorted by a recent collision with a neighboring galaxy. This smaller neighbor, NGC 7715, situated to the left in the picture, is thought to have charged right through NGC 7714. NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day: June 9, 2015
One-Armed Spiral Galaxy NGC 4725 Image Data: Subaru Telescope (NAOJ), Hubble Space Telescope, Additional Color data: Adam Block, Bob Franke, Maurice Toet - Assembly and Processing: Robert Gendler While most spiral galaxies, including our own Milky Way, have two or more spiral arms, NGC 4725 has only one.
