Italy (Master Mariano "The Armorer"), ~1605. Originally made for Cosimo II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. The blunt visor, assymetrical pauldrons, and lack of lance rest or tassets (thigh protection) indicate that this armour was intended for tournaments on foot over a barrier, which was popular sport for boys as well as men.
