Lightning Girl is a preserved Andean Mummy from the Inca Empire, a six year old girl who was sacrificed for religious rites and imperial control over the mountain peasant population. She was discovered on Llullaillaco volcano, her body extremely well preserved- having spent approximately five hundred years at a eighty-two foot altitude- save for the damage caused by a lightning strike (which took off her ear and charred her left shoulder), hence her given name by archaeologists.
