It was an odd thing to keep. When I found it in her trunk I was hesitant to even pick it up let alone inquire as to why she had it. But I did ask and I hated her for not answering. She stormed out of the room as I started swearing at who knows what, certainly not at her- but at someone. Only the ghosts of that moment can recollect the curses I left behind. And I’ve been haunted ever since.

Growing up in a strong mormon family I never thought that I would go inactive. I had a testimony, a loving family and I was sealed in the temple to a returned missionary. I did everything I was supposed to do. I epitomized the perfect picture of a what a young mormon woman should be.  Then at age thirty-four I found myself inactive, divorced and a single mom without strength, without hope and too much pride to ever think that I could return.
