Ica is a coastal region in SW Peru.  Mostly barren and mountainous, this region contains 709,556 people in an area of 8,235 sq. mi. (21,328 sq. km.) or slightly smaller than New Jersey.  Ica is it's capital. This region is well known and famous for it's Nazca Lines that can be viewed only by air and the Ica sand dunes.  It's also known for it's infamous 8.0 earthquake off shore.  Lima is NW and N, Huancavelica is NE, Ayacucho is NE and E, Arequipa is SE, and the Pacific Ocean is SW and W.
