Early Medieval Byzantine Gold Ring. Byzantine Empire, circa 8th - 10th century AD The gold bezel of the ring is shaped as a quatrefoil - an ancient symbol of good luck, health and fortune. The original stone didn't survive. The ring was recently set with a cabochon garnet. The ring comes with a metal analysis report showing 90.73% average gold content (min. reading 89.01%, max. reading 91.60%) with additions of copper 0.329%, silver 8.902%, zinc 0.115%, nickel (-) 0.073%.
