June 24, 1374: Dancing Sickness breaks out in Aachen. It was one of the first documented outbreaks of this mysterious medieval ailment, in which large groups of people (sometimes in the tens of thousands) danced until they dropped -- and sometimes died. Those suffering believed it was a curse from St. Vitus, from St. John, or simply demonic possession. Today, we don't know what caused it.
