The white-tailed tropicbird Phaethon lepturus, is a tropicbird, smallest of three closely related seabirds of the tropical oceans and smallest member of the order Phaethontiformes. It occurs in the tropical Atlantic, western Pacific and Indian Oceans. It also breeds on some Caribbean islands, and a few pairs have started nesting recently on Little Tobago, joining the red-billed tropicbird colony.

Se trata de una chica muy joven, que cuenta con plumones. Se está empezando a crecer algunas plumas de adulto, y su pico no cambia de color hasta más tarde en el desarrollo.

Red-billed Tropicbird (Phaethon aethereus) ~ Boatswain Bird, 19" excluding tail feathers which double its length, 39" wingspan. Long wings have black markings on flight feathers. Black through eye, red bill. Juveniles lack the tail streamers, are greyer-backed, and have a yellow bill. Like White-tailed tropicbird, it lays a single egg directly on bare ground of tropical islands & disperses widely when not breeding, Found as far away as UK and eastern Nova Scotia.
