The Jazz Age began after the end of WWI. In attempts to rebel against the previous generation, whom many young adults blamed as the reason for the war, jazz music became popular for it was different than the previously popular classical music. Women adopted flapper clothing styles and many young people created new "scandalous" dances to jazz music.
