The Mexican Gray Wolf is the smallest gray wolf subspecies present in North America, and it is also the most genetically distinct. Nearly wiped out in the 1900s as ranching took over the southwest, the species was listed as endangered and given protections in 1976.
Good Guys. 1900, Los Angeles. Cipriano Ricardo Flores Magón was a noted Mexican anarchist and social reform activist, important in the social movement that sparked the Mexican Revolution. He and his brother Enrique (pictured here) were unjustly arrested in Los Angeles and sent to a Federal Prison in Kansas City Kansas only for having socialist ideas. They died after a time spent in that jail, being abused and tortured by the guards. A black chapter in Los Angeles history.
