Minton First Period coffee can, circa 1811

This early Minton coffee can from around 1811 is richly adorned and in near perfect condition. It is hand-painted in coloured enamels with two panels of charming flowers, on backgrounds tinted pale green and mauve. At the foot of both flower groups is a gilt representation of a seashell. The panels are set in a bleu lapis ground gilded with leaves and stylised coral. The inside is further embellished with gilt leaves.
