First Prize Heidi Lemke, St. Albert, Alta. “My sisters, Annette and Janine, and I took our mother, Peggy, hiking in Elk Island National Park for Mother’s Day,” shares Heidi. “Near the end of the hike, we saw this moose. She didn’t run away, which we thought was odd, but we soon noticed a baby moose nearby. The mother just stood and watched us and the baby eventually got up and went over to its mom for a drink.
