IMMIGRATION: Racism and prejudice against Mexican immigrants to America was common during the early 1900's. Mexican immigrants faced several forms of discrimination, such as forced repatriation. Restaurants refused to serve Mexican immigrants. Public swimming pools, rest rooms, drinking fountains and theaters were often segregated. Mexican-immigrant school children were often forbidden to speak Spanish in schools. Many held on and benefited because of the war economy. But, not all.
