~7 x 4.5 cm. Australia. I'd thrown this into a box of not very interesting specimens. There must not have been much light around when I made that decision! Turn this stone a little and the blue bands fade as the bright golden yellow bands show up (see next photo). This looks like Boulder Opal but was part of my parents collection and was noted in their records as Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia.
