The new way to make HSTs. I started making them this way when I was introduced to a tutorial on YouTube done my Minnesota Quilts. If you have a specific size HST in mind, this is the math to help you determine your original block size. I'm looking to make a finished12X12 block, so I need 3.5 inch HSTs. 3.5/.64= 5.46 (rounding up to 5.5 inch starter squares).
