The evocative Castillo de Loarre (Huesca, #Spain) broods above the southern plains across which Islamic raiders once rode. Raised in the 11th century by Sancho III of Navarra and Sancho Ramírez of Aragón, its resemblance to a crusader castle has considerable resonance with those times. It starred in the film Kingdom of Heaven (though the film is set in 12th-century France) . There's a labyrinth of dungeons, tunnels and two towers offering magnificent views.
