After Tawaraya Sotatsu, Rinpa Folding Screen with Deer
A six-panel painted folding screen in the Japanese Rinpa school, painted with imagery based on "Poem Scroll with Deer" (ca. 1610) by Tawaraya Sotatsu (1576-1643) and Hon'ami Koetsu (1558-1637), from a portion of that important scroll now held in the collection of the Seattle's Asian Art Museum. Gouache on mounted mulberry paper. Each panel measures 65" x 26". Altogether, the unfolded screen measures 13 feet long.
