MIRABAI

Mirabai was a devotee of Sri Krishna. Despite facing criticism and hostility from her own family, she lived an exemplary saintly life and composed many devotional bhajans. Historical information about the life of Mirabai is a matter of some scholarly debate. Throwing away the mores of the time wherein women stayed in the home and did not travel freely she gave her life completely to God

Nothing's realy mine except Krisna. O my parents I've searchd de world & found nothing worthy of love. Hence I'm a stranger amidst my kinfolk & an exile frm their company, Since I seek de companionship of holy men; Thr alone do I feel happy, In de world I only weep. I plantd de creeper of love & silently watered it wit my tears; Now it has grown & overspread my dwelling. U offerd me a cup of poison Which I drank with joy. Mira is absorbd in contemplation of Krisna She is wit God & all is well!!

Do not leave me alone, a helpless woman. My strength, my crown, I am empty of virtues, You, the ocean of them. My heart’s music, you help me   In my world-crossing. You protected the king of the elephants. You dissolve the fear of the terrified. Where can I go? Save my honour For I have dedicated myself to you And now there is no one else for me. Mirabai
