Not long ago, we featured Tate Modern’s exhibition Alexander Calder: Performing Sculpture, which celebrated the American artist’s work. Calder, of course, is well known as one of modernism’s most influential figures, as well as the inventor of mobiles. I was recently reminded of his kinetic sculptures upon discovering the work of Laurent Martin “Lo”, a British sculptor who primarily uses bamboo to construct his hanging mobiles.
