We started off looking at tons of images of sea turtles, both photographs and works of art, learning all about these cool creatures and their environment. I had students close their eyes (with lights out) and imagine that they were swimming deep down in the ocean- I describe various things (seaweed tickling their toes, tropical schools of fish swimming by, etc.) Then, I say- all of a sudden a giant sea turtle swims right pass you!
