Solar eclipse sensory bin

Do you remember those space rocks that I made? They have been providing hours of play and learning this week. The very first thing we did with them was create sensory bin that included all the planets (not poor Pluto much to the dismay of my children.) This free solar system printable includes, not only the planets, but astronauts, a rocket ship, and alien in a UFO and shooting stars. Lots of fun!

A solar eclipse project we did based on the News 2 You article we read this week. Just glue a yellow sun to black construction paper. Then create a black moon and attach it by poking a hole and using a fastener. Voila, you have a moveable moon for a solar eclipse. It was great for fine motor skills, as we cut out each individual ray for the sun. My class suns are pictured at the bottom.
