Music had been used to accompany poems during the medieval era. The Elizabethans taste for the Theatre was soon enhanced by the accompaniment of music. It was only a short step to combine the accustomed music with its accompanying verse with the exciting pageantry of the Elizabethan theatre. I found this photograph of Romeo and Juliet on the internet and it inspired me to paint my favorite characters from the BBC's The Musketeers. I love Luke Pasqualino that plays d'Artagnan and he has great chemistry with Tamla Kari, who plays Constance. The star-crossed lovers are reminiscent of the Shakespeare play, but in the TV series, they have a happy ending together. In the Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers (my favorite book of all times), their love affair ends in tragedy.
