I have tried many processes and although it may not be the fastest, it always gives the best look. -Day 1: Sand 80,120, and 180 grit. Vacuum and wipe surface with a tack cloth. Do not use mineral spirits. Do not use a pre-conditioner. Stain the wood with a white wash. Here I am using Varathane. -Day 2: Let the white wash dry for 24 hours and then stain the piece using the color you want. Here I am using Kona by Varathane. -Day 3: Apply a polycrylic or polyurethane. Apply it slow. Do not shake the can. Less bubbles mean less work in the following days. You can use a brush, foam brush, or sprayer to apply. -Day 4: Sand the polycrylic LIGHTLY. You do not want to sand through that first coat. Wipe with a tack cloth again Varathane Wood Stain, Sanding Wood, Wood Finishing, Orbital Sander, Wood Stain Colors, Building Tips, Carpentry Diy, Furniture Refinishing, Mineral Spirits
