Today, back in 1934, HRH Prince Vladimir Karadjordjevic´s grandfather, HM King Aleksandar I. of Yugoslavia was assassinated whilst on a very important planned visit to France and the United Kingdom. The reason for this trip to was to strengthen the "Little Entente", which was an alliance formed in 1920 and 1921 by Czechoslovakia, Romania and Yugoslavia with the purpose of common defence against Hungarian revision and the prevention of a Habsburg restoration. France supported the alliance.

Her Majesty Queen Marija of Yugoslavia (6 January 1900 – 22 June 1961) was the Queen consort of His Majesty King Alexander I of Yugoslavia. She was originally a princess of Romania. She was born in Gotha, Thuringia, in Germany, during the reigns of her maternal Grandfather His Royal Highness Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and her Grand-uncle His Majesty King Carol I of Romania. She was known as Mignon in the family to distinguish her from her mother.
