Kalanchoe is a genus of 150-200 species of tropical, succulent flowering plants. In the family Crassulaceae and native to Madagascar and tropical Africa. Although, there are a number of Asian species in cultivation as well. One of the things that sets Kalanchoes apart from other members of the Crassulaceae, are having 4 petals instead of 5. All Kalanchoe species have succulent leaves, some fuzzy, some smooth. They thrive in arid environments, making them popular succulents.
