Lord Clive receiving from Mir Qasim a grant of money for disabled officers and soldiers. Mir Qasim robbed his own people, confiscated lands, reduced Mir Jafar's purse and depleted the treasury to pay the British what they demanded. However, he was soon tired of British interference and endless avarice. Mir Qasim overran the Company offices in Patna in 1763. He allied with Shuja-ud-Daula and Shah Alam II. However, their combined forces were defeated in the Battle of Buxar in 1764.
