My greatgrandfather moved to the Dutch Indies at the beginning of the 20th century, he married my grandmother while she was still in the Netherlands. They married "with the glove", a marriage when the couple are far away from each other. Count Johannes Van Den Bosch, 1836, by Raden Saleh - Van Den Bosch (1780-1844) was a Dutch Lieutenant General & politician. Born at Herwijnen in the Netherlands, Van Den Bosch arrived in Java in 1797 as a lieutenant, but was quickly promoted to colonel. He departed in 1810, because of differences with Governor-General Daendels. After his return to Holland in November 1813 he agitated for the return of the House of Orange.
