Confirmation bias

The Confirmation bias does not warp the perception of an individual; it just creates a whole new false perception, a delusion.

Confirmation bias is the big one. The bias that leads us to live in a world of our own choosing, finding the information that already fits with our beliefs and ignoring or discounting what doesn't. It's the bias that makes two sides get further apart rather than closer together. When we deliberately seek out information that challenges our point of view we will usually find a richer, more nuanced world that helps build bridges with others rather than drive us apart.

Becoming aware of your confirmation bias is the first step to overcoming it.

i find this kind of amusing:. a jw social media account recently posted a meme about cognitive dissonance seen here.. . and then all the jws in the comment section predictably apply it to those in christendom..

When confronted with information that challenges your personal narrative, are you curious about the new information and use that to update your beliefs or do you give in to confirmation bias and find ways to reject the evidence that contradicts your assumptions and look for information that strengthens your point of view

We are all irrational.

When we come across an interesting news item online, it’s no surprise that we want to share it with others who also may find it interesting.

When it comes to Confirmation Bias, most of the time, the media or social media is at the focus. It was interesting to see that confirmation bias is a problem in business as well.
