Community map

This neighborhood map can be used for teaching map skills to primary age children through relative terms using their own environment. This map can be adapted to teach certain map skills, terms of location, and spatial relationships.

What is a community? One way to view a community is to create a map of a town, neighborhood, or region. Draw maps of different kinds of communities using Crayola® Dry-Erase Crayons while you practice following directions.

What we have here is a city map or a town map represented in a pictorial manner. This particular sample of a community map depicts all the major landmarks like the hospital, shops, houses, pet shops, parks, shopping center, parking, etc using icons. The roads are colored grey with their names written on them in order to make the reading of the map easy.
