Using task boxes in your elementary classroom is a great way to stay organized. As a beginning teacher, you can create these task boxes and use it year after year. Task boxes in special education classroom are perfect for independent stations. My special ed students can easily go to the independent center and get out exactly what they need. My teaching them the expectation of the organization it also helps them. Task boxes activities for special ed students can be about anything!

Are you struggling with how to set up your self-contained classroom? First, start by planning the different areas of your self-contained classroom. Your self-contained classroom layout needs to have places for whole group instruction, small group instruction, teacher area, and task box centers. Don’t forget to plan out your self-contained daily schedule, visual schedules, and paraprofessional schedules too. Some self-contained classroom ideas to consider are play areas and calm down areas.
