Auditorium architecture exterior

The Folded Auditorium develops in a single volume, optimising the plot and integrating the surrounding urban park. The structure unfolds in four interconnected levels, enveloped by its characteristic skin of wavy surfaces.

Responding to its context and the adjoining roads, the project in a campus in Mandvi, India, is divided into three parts – the auditorium block, a circular wall and a rectangular admin and service block.

Danish firm 3XN has completed a large sporting and cultural arena in Copenhagen, featuring a glazed curtain wall wrapped in timber fins.

Whilst the three theatres within the Lyric Theatre Complex draw their own distinct identities from the types of performing arts to which they cater, their designs follow a unified approach essential to both creating a complementary family of theatres and a coherent building. Each theatre therefore has its own distinct colour which relates to its function. This colour is not only applied in the auditoriums, but also in the correlating foyers, thus also acting as a means of wayfinding.
