We had some extra time in 5th grade, so we experimented with aluminum foil printmaking. They drew a design of their choice with a Sharpie marker on their paper. Then we used washable markers on foil and water to turn the markers into paint. Then we took a monoprint of the color onto our papers. Interesting results and it may be a technique we incorporate into future projects. :)

I've been making samples for a workshop I'll be teaching at the upcoming NAEA convention in Seattle, in March. The workshop is titled "Oh What a Relief - Fabulous Tooling Foil". Foil Coffee Picture. I printed a pattern and glued it to a board. Then I piped hot glue over the pattern. After it dried I spread glue stick over the whole thing. I pressed on heavy foil (shiny side down)starting in the center and being careful not to tear the foil. Next came black shoe polish I used liquid and let it set about 5 min., then wiped it off.

We have loved these Sandra Silberzwieg portraits so much, and last week in our Charlotte, NC children's art studio we did them on tooling foil! Come see!
