We had a lot fun studying real candy prices as our inspiration for our Pop Art Candy Paintings. Tempra paint and black Sharpie outlines added emphasis and strong lines. The 12" x12" paper created a cropped effect as well. Yum!

Postmodern artist Sol LeWitt produced approximately 1,350 “Wall Drawings,” but rarely painted one himself. He provided the concept, then collaborated with others to actually produce the work. In this lesson plan for grades 3–12, students receive the exact same set of instructions and materials, but execute them according to their own interpretations.

Step 1. Put a visual dot in the center. Step 2. Draw 4 arms from the center either off the page at the sides or at the corners. As the arms go out they should spread apart from each other or get wider as they go out. Step 3. Write your name in capital letters inside the arms. Always start at the dot and work out.
