La tradición cuenta que tras la última cena fue guardado  por los apóstoles, pasó a Antioquía, llevado por san Pedro y posteriormente a Roma. Según la leyenda, en el pontificado de San Sixto II, (año 258) y debido a las persecuciones, se habría confiado el Santo Cáliz a Lorenzo (Martir), hispano de Huesca, ( esto explica su presencia en el monasterio hasta 1438, fecha en la que Alfonso V de Aragon lo llevó a Valencia).

The second floor contains a royal pantheon of kings of Aragon and Navarre.  It contains the resting places of the following kings of Aragón: Ramiro I, Sancho Ramírez, and Peter I of Aragon and Navarre.
