YORK ~ ENGLAND ~ The Shambles is a charming old street in York with overhanging timber-framed buildings, some dating back as far as the 14th century. The street-level shops, inlcuding butchers, catered to the townspeople. Although the butchers have since vanished, a number of shops still have meat-hooks hanging outside.
Whitby Abbey is a ruined Benedictine Abbey overlooking the North Sea on the East Cliff Above Whitby in North Yorkshire, England. It was disestablished during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under the auspices of Henry VIII.
Haworth, England, home of the Brontes. One of the coolest places I have ever been because of my love of their books. Admittedly, I should not have arrived on the night of Halloween and listened to a night-time ghost walk in the graveyard. Especially because I was traveling alone.
