Sucre Antpitta (Grallaricula cumanensis) was universally treated as a subspecies of the wide-ranging Slate-crowned Antpitta (Grallaricula nana) until recently. A recent morphological and vocal study, however, emphasized the strong geographical variation evident within this species complex, & led to its division into two species. Sucre Antpitta is endemic to NE Venezuela in the region of the Paria Peninsula.
Green/blue footed D. leucemelas ...there is a region in Venezuela named Cerro Autana at the base of the mountain range. Thats where these frogs are found. They vary in color from Blue to Green, and are often referred to as either or depending on your geographical location.
