Tsar Paul I Petrovich Romanov (Pavel Petrovich Romanov) (1 Oct 1754-23 Mar 1801) Russia was murdered in his bedroom in St Michael's Castle, St. Petersburg, Russia by a band of dismissed officers. They tried to make him to sign his abdication but Paul I resisted & 1 of the assassins struck him with a sword before he was strangled & trampled to death. He was succeeded by his son, the 23-year-old Alexander Pavlovich Romanov (23 Dec 1777-1 Dec 1825) Russia.
