Hay varias especies de gran tamaño, una de ellas es la cucaracha gigante de Madagascar, Gromphadorrina portentosa, de 8 cm de longitud, que emite un sonido silbante que le da el nombre de cucaracha silbante. La cucaracha alada Blabera fusca mide entre 6 y 8 cm. También se citan ejemplares de cucaracha americana que han alcanzado este tamaño, aunque lo normal es que midan entre 2,5 y 4 cm. Pero más grandes eran las cucarachas gigantes que habitaron la Tierra hace unos 300 millones de años.

Ouch! I wouldn’t want to get stung by this guy! These wasps are called “Tarantula Hawks” because they kill tarantulas and bury them for their young to feed on. They are arguably the largest wasps. This is a pretty big one with a 6.75 inch legspan.

That crazy ornament thing on its body isn’t some weird antenna, instead those “balls” are hollow spheres of chitin probably to try and scare away predators. Would you want to chew on that?
