What are outdated cues?
The word 'outdated' refers to things that are old-fashioned. In the past, certain cues made sense and were commonly used in yoga classes. However, due to social advances, research, and revision, some of these cues are no longer acceptable. 3 words to avoid that are activating, non-inclusive, and innefective!
With this post, I want to help you ‘unlearn’ three words that you don’t want to use anymore: can't - should - need to. This are modal verbs that express necessity or possibility, but also probability, ability, permission, requests, suggestions, and obligations. There are various types of modal verbs and in general or daily conversation they’re very useful. However, when teaching yoga some modal verbs are considered activating, non-inclusive or ineffective.

It may also be a lack of concentration that makes you lose focus. But I believe, it’s the standardised study techniques that aren’t working for you.
