ఒక జెన్‌ గురువు శిష్యులతో కలసి నదిలో స్నానం చేయటానికి వెళ్లాడు. స్నానం చేసి బయటికి వచ్చాక గురువు నడుస్తున్నప్పుడు ఆయన చుట్టూ శిష్యులు చేరారు. ఒక శిష్యుడు ‘జ్ఞానం పొందటానికి నేను ఏమి చెయ్యాలి?’ అని అడిగాడు. గురువు సమీపంలో ఉన్న కుక్కను చూపుతూ ‘దాన్నుంచి నేర్చుకో’ అన్నాడు. శిష్యుడు నిరాశ చెందాడు, గురువుగారు తన ప్రశ్నను పట్టించుకోలేదని..
